Dr Ingvild Harkes is a cultural anthropologist in combination with environmental sciences. She has always worked in fisheries management and sustainable marine resource governance. Her expertise is in fisheries co-management, traditional local resource management, MPAs, stakeholder processes, and institutional analysis. She has worked as a researcher in the international Fisheries Co-management Project at World Fish, as executive secretary for the Pelagic AC, as project manager for Edinburgh Napier University, and as senior programme manager for WWF. Areas of specific interest are Southeast Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, but also the North Sea. Protection of the marine environment, decision-making processes and sustainable use are key in her work.
