InventWater: Inventive forecasting tools for adapting water quality management to a new climate
Inventive forecasting tools for adapting water quality management to a new climate (inventWater) is a Marie Sklodowska Curie Action European Training Networks (ETN) project (programme Innovative Training Networks (ITN) of Horizon 2020). Its main objective is to organize a platform providing cutting edge cross disciplinary education of tomorrow’s professionals of the water quality sector.
Objective: The research objective of my study is to assess current and future trends in flows of multiple pollutants from land-based sectors to water systems at the sub-basin scale worldwide, and to explore effective measures to achieve clean water for multiple sectors in the future at the sub-basin scale worldwide.
Modeling: This research will start from existing models, integrating new pollutants and new sources. I will use the global version of the MARINA model (MARINA - WUR). I will develop innovative forecasting multi-pollutant approaches based on the existing MARINA-Global model to evaluate river export of multiple pollutants at the river mouth. I will address the common origin of multiple pollutants and study their multiple impacts at the global scale, accounting for interactions.
