Lei Zhang is a visiting researcher at the Soil Geography and Landscape group within the Department of Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University. His research interests focus on the spatiotemporal variations and linkages in aboveground vegetation growth and belowground soil carbon under the impacts of climate change and human activities. He is also interested in digital soil mapping, efficient spatial sampling strategy, remote sensing, and machine learning. During his visit to Wageningen University, his research focused on using process-oriented models to enhance machine learning-based soil carbon prediction in space and time.
