Dr. Hans Spoolder is senior scientist and EU account manager at Wageningen Livestock Research in Wageningen, The Netherlands. He supports the acquisition and management of international research projects. Hans is an applied ethologist, specializing in issues related to animal welfare on farm, during transport and at the abattoir. He obtained his PhD on social and stereotypic behaviour of sows in 1998. He is author or co-author of 40+ peer reviewed papers, and member of the Animal Health and Welfare panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Hans currently is the president of the Health and Welfare commission of the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP). He has experience in managing international R&D projects, and was involved as coordinator, deputy-coordinator or project office manager of several EU funded projects in recent years.
