With a BSc in Tropical Animal Husbandry Eddy Teenstra started working as a livestock extensionist in 1981 at the Dutch Government Extension Service. In 1987 this led to a research position in grassland planning and fodder supply at the centre for applied research in Lelystad (PR). In 1990 Teenstra returned to extension in the position of national expert in dairy farm management. During this period Teenstra was posted for 14 months in Albania as an extension development advisor. From 2001 to 2006 he worked as knowledge manager at the Innovation Centre Organic Agriculture of WUR during which period he also graduated as a Master in Information Management (MIM) at Tilburg University. After yet another reorganisation Teenstra specialised in communication and commenced working as a communication advisor for many WUR livestock/dairy projects. In April 2013 Eddy Teenstra was posted at WLR to work in Ethiopia on M&E and Knowledge Development in a Dairy Sector Development project. From May 2014 until January 2016 he has been a consultant at FAO in Rome, Italy, working on a project to improve livestock manure management with focus on the tropics. After returning to the Netherlands, Eddy Teenstra is currently employed at WLR in the position of Livestock Extension and Communication Specialist, and as an communication advisor at WUR Corporate Communication & Marketing.
