Marie Zwetsloot is a postdoctoral researcher in the Soil Biology Group at Wageningen University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in social-life sciences from University College Maastricht. As a Fulbright and Huygens scholar, she completed her research MSc in soil science and PhD program in rhizosphere ecology at Cornell University in the United States. She has worked in natural and managed ecosystems around the world studying plant-soil interactions in the context of sustainable land use and climate change. Among others, she investigated and published on how to recycle waste streams into phosphorus fertilizer and how plant roots influence soil organic matter dynamics in forests under drought.
