Desiree s a PhD researcher at the Division of Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University. She has a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and a master's degree in Health Education and Promotion (cum laude). She started her career at the division back in 2012 as a research dietitian, participating in >10 dietary controlled trials, dietary intervention studies and food consumption studies.
After a 2-year break from the university she returned in 2017 as a PhD researcher. Her current research focuses on innovations in the assessment of dietary behaviours. At the moment, Desiree is involved in both national and international consortia on advancements in dietary assessment (Smart Food Intake AF-16096 & Pride and Prejudice 4TU-UIT-346) and the use of big data for health behaviour research (BigO EU-727688).
Mid-2020 Desiree also joined the Nutri_Lab team of the Department of Industrial Design of Technical University Eindhoven (TU/e) as a postdoctoral researcher. This position was created to advance the collaboration between WUR and TU/e to further innovate dietary assessment efforts by exploring new technological opportunities.
