CURRENT POSITION at PPH:

Monoterpenes are important flavour and fragrance compounds. Therefore they are used as potential natural cosmetic ingredient. Glycosylation of monoterpenes in plants is a complex process, which is important for modulating the solubility and bio-availability of these compounds. UDP-glycosyltransferases (GT) are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of the sugar molecules to the specific acceptor like monoterpenes. Very little is known about the biological function of GTs in plant. Thus, the GT enzymes that glycosylate monoterpenes need to be identified. This is the aim of our research.
