I am an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the departments of Soil Geography and Landscape (SGL) and Cultural Geography (GEO). My main interests are:
(1) the dynamic relations between human and landscape in prehistory and early history;
(2) interdisciplinary research (especially the interplay between data from the humanities and various ‘sciences’);
(3) methodological and theoretical innovation in the field of landscape archaeology and history;
(4) the application of scientific data in heritage management.
My current Vidi-project ‘Home Turf’ (2017-2022) centers on the long-term development of raised bogs in the Pleistocene parts of the Netherlands and adjacent areas (expansion, exploitation, heritage management).
