I am China business development manager for Plant Sciences Group. My passion is to bridge knowledge transfer and exchange in order to benifit sustainable agriculture development in both China and the Netherlands. My task is to identify business oppertunities and establish collaboration programs and projects between WUR and Chinese partners including research institutions, industries or governmental organisations.

I had eight years working experience as scientific researcher and project leader at Wageningen Plant Research on sustainable insect pest management, looking for non-chemical control strategies such as ecological control, cultural control, physical control and behavioural manipulation for the management of insect pests during various stages of the crop production chain. For more than a decade I had been working at the laboratory of Entomology of Wageningen UR as PhD fellow and postdoc on sensory and behavioural ecology of the malaria mosquito, decoding the olfactory sense of the mosquitoes to human odours. I also did research on selecting various parasitoids for the biological control of whitefly. 

Mijn onderzoek activiteit gaat om duurzaam en vooral niet-chemisch bestrijding van insect plagen van landbouw en tuinbouwgewassen, inclusief quarantaine organismen. 

Een voorbeeld van mijn projecten is het PPS project “Ontwikkeling effectieve en duurzame technieken ten behoeve van plaagvrije tuinbouwproducten in internationale handelsketens” . In dit project werken 11 partijen samen. Het onderzoek richt zich op ontwikkeling van nieuwe effectieve en duurzame technieken die de meereizende insecten in sierteeltplanten (chrysanten en bloembollen), groenten (tomaat, paprika) en fruit (appel en peer) kunnen doden. Een van de doelstellingen is om de CATT (controlled atmosphere and temperature treatment) techniek verder te ontwikkelen en op te schalen voor gebruik in de praktijk voor een aantal plaag product combinaties.

Naast onderzoek activiteiten houd ik me ook bezig met China business development voor PSG breed van wege mijn Chinese achtergrond. Ik ben onderzoek en kennis transformatie projecten aan het ontwikkelen in een form van PPS, maar met Chinese publiek en privaat partijen.
