Optimization of the Bioscorodite process for safe removal of Arsenic from industrial waste waters
Arsenic is a major contaminant in the non-ferrous metallurgical industry and is released to water during industrial operations.
The treatment of arsenic-rich wastewaters is one of the most important environmental issues for metallurgical industries. Arsenic is not longer commercialized then a safe disposal is needed.
The goal of the project is the removal of arsenic through Bioscorodite process. A biological approach is proposed in which arsenic is precipitated with the aid of extremophilic bacteria in the form of stable and compact Scorodite (FeAsO42H2O).
