Fish phenotyping includes the measurements of exterior traits like body weight and length and interior characteristics like organ weights and diseases. Current data collection largely relies on anatomical measurements, which are labor-intensive, time-consuming, and may require sacrificing fish. Yuuko, together with the breeding company Hendrix Genetics, works on automatic phenotyping using image analysis. It benefits the well-being of the fish and the quality and efficiency of data collection on live animals. The phenotyping result will be combined with genomic analysis to improve the outcome of selection.
