Selçuk is a doctoral researcher in the Soil Geography and Landscape group and member of the NWO project, Badlands in a Temperate Mediterranean environment, at Wageningen University.

Selçuk is a geologist with primary interests in structural geology and tectonic geomorphology. He studies surface dynamics associated with extensional tectonics and climate control in various geological and tectonic environments. He conducts his research using Quaternary geochronological dating methods combined with geological/structural mapping to understand the development of erosive landscapes. His involvement in dynamic erosion modelling (e.g. LAPSUS) adds another essential aspect to assess the landscape evolution quantitatively. Additionally, he has an interest in landsliding at orogen scale, their spatio-temporal distribution and topographic patterns as an indicator for natural hazards.
