"SuSI" project

The primary objective of this postdoc project is to increase our understanding of consumer and stakeholder acceptance of immunocastration of boars. Surgical castration of pigs has been practiced in Europe for centuries to prevent male aggressive behaviour and 'boar taint' in pork. During the last decade, welfare concerns have triggered the search for alternatives to maintain societal acceptance of pork production. Immunocastration is a non-painful intervention that promises to be a suitable animal-friendly alternative to surgical castration.
