Bart van den Borne was born and raised on a dairy farm in the south of the Netherlands. He graduated as an animal scientist from Wageningen University in 2004. The year after, he started a PhD on the epidemiology of bovine mastitis at Utrecht University which he completed in 2010. In the same year, he continued researching the topic at the University of Bern, Switzerland. Upon his return to the Netherlands in 2016, Bart worked at a number of research institutes after which he started a postdoc position in the Business Economics Group in 2018. Since 2020, he works at the Business Economics Group and the Quantitative Veterinary Epidemiology Group researching and lecturing the epidemiology and economics of animal health.
