Biography

Tamara Hoppenbrouwers is a biologist/immunologist at Wageningen University & Research. She obtained her PhD-degree at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, with her thesis entitled “Trapped in the Matrix: Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs) and Fibrin in Wound Healing”. In 2018, she started working as a Postdoc at Wageningen University & Research on the topic “Sustainable production of health-promoting n-3 LCPUFA using agro food industry by-products through microalgae-oil (SUSPUFA)”. In this project, she worked on the development of a DC2-Th2-cell model to predict allergic sensitisation in an in vitro model, using human moDCs and validating the model using LCPUFAs. Besides cell culture, her specialties include flow cytometry, in vitro digestion, ELISA and LEGENDPlex assays, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy. Starting July 2020, she entered a Tenure Track position at WUR between the departments of Food Quality and Design and Wageningen Food & Biobased Research.
