After finishing his MSc in applied physics (thesis in advanced porous materials and multiphase flows), Bijoy Bera pursued his PhD at the Physics of Complex Fluids group, University of Twente. His research topic was wetting transition in complex fluids assisted by ions and surfactant molecules. The goal of this research was to experimentally investigate stability of thin water films on a solid phase in an oil environment, and to subsequently model the system using various ion-ion interactions. After completion of his PhD in 2016, Bijoy started his postdoctoral research at Institute of Physics, University of Amsterdam, where he was interested in various wetting and adsorption phenomena e.g., in 2D materials such as graphene. Other research interests during this period included viscous flow effects in a rough microchannel.
