Wassim is a Dutch Lebanese professional with extensive experience working for the private and non-profit sectors in challenging environments in Africa and the Middle East.
Wassim is currently managing the International Cooperation and Relations for the Middle East and North Africa region at Wageningen University and Research (WUR) in The Netherlands and developing new leads to increase the international reach of WUR in the field of education, research and value creation in the MENA region. Previous to his current role, he served as a portfolio coordinator (2017- 2020) at The Netherlands Red Cross, managing the West Africa and the Caribbean regions and overseeing the portfolio to maintain a long term presence of the Country Offices of The Netherlands Red Cross in Mali, Central African Republic, DR Congo and Haiti.
Wassim also worked with Hilfswerk Austria International (HWA) in Tunisia as Country Director (2012-2016) where he managed economic development programmes to create jobs for young people and women. For the Telecom sector in Sudan and South Sudan, he developed Corporate Social Responsibility programs focusing on education and capacity development between 2008 and 2012.
Beginning of 2021, Wassim was appointed as member of the Supervisory Board of Spark and member of the advisory board of Robert CARR Fund. Since 2015 Wassim represents the Lebanese Emigrants Research Center (LERC) in the Netherlands.
His leadership and relationship building competences coupled with international cooperation and field experience empowered him to balance a wide range of global stakeholders including governmental organizations, NGOs, international agencies, universities, municipalities and media.
Wassim has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer and Communication Engineering from Notre Dame University, Lebanon and he speaks fluently Arabic, English, French and Dutch.
