As a food systems researcher in the International Policy group, I am involved in applied research projects on food system transformations and the wider transition to sustainable and inclusive food value chains, often with a geographical focus on Sub-Sahara Africa and Latin America. I hold an MA in Development Studies from the University of Sussex and a BSc in Political Science from the University of Amsterdam.
I speak Dutch, English and Spanish.
Current projects
One of my current research topics is focused on understanding and developing ways to work with midstream actors in informally organized economies to contribute to improved food system outcomes, such as access to safe and nutritious food and decreasing food waste, for example in Tanzania (FRESH project) and Rwanda and Nigeria (Horticulture Innovation Lab).
