Natsuho Fujisawa Endo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group (FNP) of Wageningen University, the Netherlands and a JSPS Cross-border Postdoctoral Research Fellow (CPD) at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) of Kyoto University, Japan.

Her research examines how small-scale farmers create coffee agroforestry landscapes through diversified livelihood strategies. Adopting a transdisciplinary approach, and deploying forest ecological, rural sociological, anthropological methods, she aims to contribute to generating sustainable agroforestry landscapes based on local farmers' knowledge and practices.  She has done field research in Panama in Central America, Borneo in Malaysia, and Japan.

At FNP, she builds on this line of work, this time focusing on the potential of agroforestry as a key tool for promoting a sustainable society. Recently, the connections between rural and urban areas have become stronger and rural inhabitants have increasingly chosen off-farm work as their main source of livelihood. At the same time, small-scale farmers are expected to play a vital role in conserving biodiversity in forests and agricultural land. She considers this interaction and the ways in which agroforestry can contribute to the re-valuation of rural livelihoods and the environment.
